We have installed Windows 7 as our main operating system in our business. There are three stages of Installation of Operating system -
- Pre- Installation
- Installation
- Post- Installation
Pre- Installation:
In this step it is made sure that the computer's hardware meets the minimum requirements of the new operating system to be installed. All the components, package drivers and the available space in the hard disk are checked in order to see its compatibility with the OS, so as to proceed with the next step. It is one of the vital stages of installation as it determines wheather the OS will be running smoothly or not.

An Example of Installation processes
Installation:
This is the main step of installation where all the command prompts and different settings are chosen by the user. However, there are two types of Installations - UPGRADE and ADVANCED. The difference is that the advanced settings will do a clean/new installation with basic factory setings wheareas the latter would just upgrade the operating system by keeping all the preferances/settings of the user the same as before's. This stage may take a while, it should be done without any interuption. The installation varies depending on the edition of operating system. The OS installed is updated version (sometimes updated manually).

Example of Post-Installation Configuration.
Post Installation:
Post installation step is after the installation. After successfully installation, configuration of various settings/preferances is done. Moreover, the user installs the needed programs, configuration of user accounts, makes a restore point, adjusts date/time and Anti-virus software to protect the PC. It is the final stage of installation.
